VIDEOS I WILL TAKE ELEMENTS FROM TO HELP ME FOR MY MUSIC VIDEO

Belle Amie- Girls Up

I don't particularly like the song but i do think that the video is a great inspiration for some of the elements that I would like in my video. The reason being is because i would like to make a video for a unique, pop, girl band. When thinking about my video, some of the things that inspire me from this video are the outrageous styles, the fun routines, the different types of the characters that the girls are showing in the video, the contrast between the colours and the girl power. I also like some of the editing.

Sugababes- Denial

A lot of aspects in this video are going to influence me whilst making my music video. For example the change of settings, the outfits/ style, the different characters portrayed in the video, the different types of editings, the contrast between each cut and the different camera techniques.
A part that i really liked in this video is from 1:21 to 1:23 because it's something so simple and delicate but very pretty and effective. I also liked the fact that every so often, throughtout the video, they would write the lyrics, for example 1:56.
The fact that the song and the video is quite upbeat and fast, it keeps the audience on their toes and wanting more diversity.

Christina Perri- Penguin

The reason why i love this video is because there is no artist, it's just lyrics so, it's just about the music. It's done in a very clever way because there are different scenarios throughout the video and the viewer is following a path and discovering new places. There are a lot of close ups each time the setting changes so that we have to wait in suspence to see what the next words are going to say. The video is quite creative and it goes really well with the song because they are both calm and serene.

Rizzle Kicks- Down with the Trumpets

The things that i really like about this video are the effects and the camera shots because they suit perfectly with the artists cheecky, cocky, funny characters. There is a section between 2:45 to 2:56 where the camera falls with the artist and it falls in time with the beat of the music, match on action. I found that quite creative and inventive. I also liked the camera positions at 0:56 and 1:16 because they give you a limited amount of space and it focuses completely on what the video wants us to notice, the artists.

Kate Nash- Foundations

The thing that i like about this video is that the lyrics are quite serious but the video isn't. This is because she is saying that the deliberate or not, annoying little things that couples do to one another are splitting them apart. Despite of that it has a cartoony feel to it but it doesn't go over board and turn into a childrens video. It's quite interesting how the video uses a pair of socks, toothbrushes, watches to represent the two main characters for example, 2:46.

Marco Mengoni- Credimi Ancora

I love the effects in this video. I also love the representation the video and lyrics give the artist. In the lyrics Marco says that he has different sides to his character and that he is flexible and the video portrays that by using black and white which connotes that he is nice and evil. An example of his split personality is at 0:21 or  at 0:43 because it shows 3 sides to him. The first is normal/ casual with normal lighting, the second is a bit more scruffy and there is a darker tone to the lighting and the last shows him with dark eye liner and in a very dark atmosphere.
Also, all the effects and drawings are one on top of the other at times in the video, this gives me the impression that he wants to give a sense of confusion to the viewer to connect with his lyrics.

Charlie Simpson-Parachutes

I love the contrast between him walking on the screen and him walking for real on the pavement. I suspect that when he is walking on the pavement it's what his life went like and him walking on the screen is him imagining how his life could have been like. The lighting is completely different from him walking on the screen, light, bright and him walking on the pavement, dark, it looks like it's day and night. The characters and the props are the same on both videos but the difference is the contrast between life and death, and happy and sad/angry and, positive and negative social interactions. The video is a narrative video because it connects with the lyrics. From the lyrics and the video i got the impression that it's a story of a drugs or alcohol addict. This is because he continiously says, he doesn't need help but he is sorry. Also, the structure of the lyrics goes: firstly he is in denial, then he is sorry, then he says he has tried, then he is sorry again and hopes that there will be hope for him still, but in the end he gives up.
From what i see there asn't been any cuts or editing in the video which must have took a lot of practice and patience.

Kate Voegele-Angel

The reason why i like this video is because it shows the artist in her enviroment. It gives the viewer an insight on how Kate would be like live. She has been dolled up for this video and the camera shots show a lot of different angles of Kate but the reason is because the target audience is obviously very interested in her and her appearance. This is probably becausde they aspire to be like her.
